What is HelpforAfricanStudents, Inc. (H.A.S.)?

An American nonprofit organization which sole raison d’être is to partner with African students /students from developing countries in their daily struggles toward a better education.

whatsH.A.S.3

Infectious diseases, civil war, and political corruption and instability are the lot of far too many African countries which are also, unfortunately, among the poorest of the world.

Though a number of upstanding organizations dedicated to facilitating the survival of these afflicted populations are already in existence, a greater emphasis on long-term solutions and radical changes is desperately needed.

At H.A.S. we firmly believe that the only people capable of bringing such changes about are Africans themselves, especially theFlagse young men and women that populate African university campuses today. They are the future of the continent of Africa and our main focus at H.A.S.

Our objective is very simple: to assist and guide them towards a brighter future by providing them with critical information related to educational opportunities. At H.A.S. we have adopted the following slogan—“Information is the driving force to success”—because we acknowledge the key role information plays in both personal and national development. Information is a powerful tool; used efficiently, it can save lives.

Although we are in the era of a global information explosion and life-changing opportunities flood the internet, access to this information remains limited for many Africans because of financial hardships, language barriers, and other attendant obstacles. At H.A.S., we have engineered simple programs and techniques to help lower these barriers.

Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just your articles?

I mean, what you say is fundamental and all.

Nevertheless just imagine if you added some great visuals or videos to
give your posts more, "pop"! Your content is excellent but with
images and videos, this site could certainly be one of the most beneficial
in its niche. Fantastic blog!

Hello.
My name is Solofoniaina Henristudio. I have recently applied and been admitted to Colorado State University.
Unfortunately, as an international student, I'm not eligible for financial aid in this university.
When I asked them about it, here is what they had to say.

"Dear Henristudio

Thank you for asking. Unfortunately, international students are not eligible for most financial aid through state or federal sources. I realize that higher education in the US can be expensive and encourage you to consider a wide variety of financial options in your home country or with friends or family to help you make the best decision. I wish you the best of luck procuring financial resources to attend school in the states."

The problem is that although I do not lack the desire to study at American university, my family and I lack the means to pay for all of the expenses. I am sending this e-mail to inquire if grants can be dropped in my case. My family is from the countryside of Madagascar which is one of the poorest countries in the world.. And If there is anything I can do to help my chances of my tuition and fees, just tell me and I will do it.

Thank you.
Henristudio

Well, scholarships for medicine/nursin g/professional degrees(univers ity type scholarships that is) are pretty rare. You however have NGO/government funded scholarships target those. You need to be very convincing in your application - how important is it that you get the scholarship? are professionals with that particular specializations rare in your country etc... etc....Using the search engine, you can look for scholarships that
fit your specific profile. Remember to make your search as broad as

My name is Moses and I am a young Ghanaian of 25 years old. I hold a Higher National Diploma in Marketing ( second class upper division ) from Sunyani Polytechnic Ghana. Life after school has not been easy, I have been unemployed for almost one and half years now which has kept much pressure on my mum as a single parent who do not have any thing profitable doing. I even fear something bad may happen to her. I am academically good and it is my wish to further my education if I should get help from any philanthropist around the world. It is so unfortunate that, my part of the world when it comes to financial help you will not get, people take pride in living in fancy houses, buying luxury cars, and spending huge amounts of money on evens like funeral and weddings. They forget about the needy around them. I hope I can use your platform to get help from any kind individual, organisation or governments of the developed world.

Young people aged below 24 years face the challenges of life differently. Due to the lack of school fees, most youth drop out of school early without knowledge and skills for livelihood. They then face the world of unemployment and hopelessness. As a consequence, some end up in acts of crime, drug abuse, early marriages or prostitution exposing tem to risks of HIV/AIDS and STIs.
The above youth Group is aimed at improving the standards of youth in Buikwe District, Mukono targeting the whole country.( UGANDA)

Hi am called Nchinda Mirabel a graduate from the university of Yaounde II Soa Cameroon. Iread law in school but because of financial constrain i could not continue to the master and PHD level. In Cameroon we still have a problem of cyber criminality which needs only experts to curb this down and i believe with aid from countries like yours we can do something to solve this problem so i will be very grateful if im given this opportuinity. When you have a heart to help your country, government scholarships are a great way to go. In your application be convincing: why should they give the scholarship to you and not another student? are professionals in your field desperately needed in your country? if so why? can your country train such a professional? (If not, they are more likely to sponsor you abroad).
Best wishes!

Hello, Madar.
Many governmental/NG O scholarships target students looking to get PhD’s abroad, and universities around the world rely heavily on PhD students to carry out various research projects. As a consequence, research assistantship positions become available every day in universities across Europe, America, and Asia. It is important to note that many of these opportunities are never published over the internet, so the best way to go about it is to prepare a nice CV and cover letter and start visiting the websites of universities in your targeted field and country. Look for openings and collect the emails of faculty whose research interests coincide with yours. Then send them an email—many reply, you know, and if you have done great things research–wise in the past you can get lucky; what is more, there is little to no competition at times.
How do you find faculty more likely to hire? Those with NIH grant money are listed here: projectreporter.nih.gov/.../
Another option is our search engine: www.helpforafricanstudents.org /.../

Note that women, especially those of developing nations, have the biggest chance of obtaining a scholarship. Your chances are even greater when you have good grades. Note that when dealing with government/NGO scholarships, having a great plan to impart serious changes in your community/count ry after your graduation can also increase your chances tremendously. There are a number of scholarships on our website for women. Try checking the 'scholarships for women' box on the search engine and leaving all the other criteria blank.
We wish you the best!

A governmental scholarship will be great for you. They offer the most money and often cover all fields.
When you have at heart to help your country, government scholarships are a great way to go. In your application be convincing: why should they give the scholarship to you and not another student? are professionals in your field desperately needed in your country? if so why? can your country trained such professional? Hello there.

I from Libya and I would like to study music theory anywhere on this earth.

My issue is that here in Libya we don't schools and colleges for arts.

Besides my passion for music and over-time job, My urge for learning music is to Meet students from all over the world, Make connections with music teachers and professors, And lastly come back to my country to launch The First Music School Libya.

Best Regards.

Dear Emily,
Many governmental/NG O scholarships target students looking to get PhD’s abroad, and universities around the world rely heavily on PhD students to carry out various research projects. Then send them an email—many reply, you know, and if you have done great things research–wise in the pass you can get lucky; what is more, there is little to no competition at times.
How do you find faculty more likely to hire? Those with NIH grant money are listed here: projectreporter.nih.gov/.../
Another option is our search engine: www.helpforafricanstudents.org /.../

Congratulations on nearing the completion of your diploma studies. Please follow the advice we often give students: start by making sure that your choice of your future program is well-planned. Do you have a career plan? Is the demand high for professionals with the degree you are after? Have you met with some faculty/profess ionals to investigate whether you are currently on the right path? Is there something better you qualify for?

Hey Raoufo
Thanks for the kind words
I am sure there is.
Using the search engine, you can look for scholarships that
fit your specific profile. Remember to make your search as broad as
possible. What this means is limit your criteria to 2 or 3 if your initial search yield not much results. Here is the address of our search engine: www.helpforafricanstudents.org /.../

once you locate one or more scholarships that suits your needs, feel
free to ask us for advice/support on the application steps (CV, letter
of motivation etc....)

Salut tres chere Helene
